One of the saddest stories the media is hyping now is the story of a single mom of six kids who just birthed 8 babies, all 14 children from IVF.
She should have had the 8 babies a few years ago when the Republican Evangelicals were in charge, because they would perhaps have held her up as an example of saintliness, a young woman so open to life.
But the truth is slowly revealing itself. Nadia Suleman lives with her parents, who already lost one house in the financial aftermath of raising Nadia’s six children.
She’s hired a publicist but not a nanny to help her parents.
Nadia has been living off of $165,000 insurance settlement she got for injuries sustained ‘during a riot at a mental institution she worked at’. $165,000 over five years, I believe. That’s $30,000+ a year. But her parents have covered many of the costs of raising Nadia’s 6 children.
The biological father, who donated the sperm, is apparently soooooo freaked out at Nadia’s decision to have so many children with his sperm, without him, that he’s not coming forward to help raise them.
So who will raise these 14 kids, in a post-Republican world? We will! Taxpayers!
The real question is whether or not Nadia is emotionally capable of raising 14 children, and that’s where the tragedy lies.
If she used the proceeds of her insurance settlement to have plastic surgery to get a nose job and plump up her lips beyond recognition, is that just one sign of a narcissistic personality disorder? She looks so much like humanitarian Angelina Jolie, and she tempers her voice like Jolie and she now beat Jolie in family size, but she does not have Jolie’s career, Jolie’s cash or Jolie’s life partner to help her raise her kids.
She has her parents, whom she has already bankrupted once, and who are vocal about being overwhelmed. Even though grandparents across America are stepping up and raising their grandchildren when their own kids cannot, because of incarceration, drug abuse or poverty, these grandparents are already sacrificing to raise Nadia’s first 6 children.
Nadia has no job and is a student, but believes a future job will ensure her children’s financial safety. She hasn’t worked, has made choices that bankrupted herself and her children and is now soon going home with 8 babies even though she is not raising her other 6 children.
I know that there are investigations into the propriety of the IVF doctor, for implanting so many babies. Should there also be an investigation into Nadia’s mental health?
Nadia told NBC that she does not intend to go on welfare, though her publicist confirmed Monday that Suleman already receives food stamps and child disability payments to help feed and care for her six other children.
Suleman’s publicist Mike Furtney said she receives $490 a month in food stamps. Furtney said Suleman did not want to disclose the nature of her children’s disabilities or the nature of those payments.
In her view these are just payments made for people with legitimate needs and are not, in her view, welfare,” Furtney said. “She just believes that there are programs for people with needs and she and her children qualify for some of them.”

Nadia is one sick lady, the kids should be taken away from her. You don’t get financial aid to live on, which she apparently has and plans to again; of course, those kids with disability also would get SS disability, which she has not said anything about. She probably has watched Jon and kate plus 8 too much and figures she can cash in also. She is really selfish because she thinks somebody else is going to raise these kids. If I were the grandparents I would run for the hills. A very sick woman.
This is addressed to Karen Wade, you DO get welfare to LIVE ON. It’s the only way the gov’t will allow you to get it. You can’t have ANY JOB and receive welfare. So even if you had a job to LIVE ON instead of welfare as you suggest and only used welfare as a supplement you can’t do that because you won’t get the welfare in the first place because of having a job. ANY JOB as long as it’s W2 status and pays at least minimum wage.
I know, trust me on this. I received after an auto accident I was 21 and they dropped me once my doctor found out I was back at work.
They assume, if you can work then you don’t need us. You can support yourself just fine. They’ve never used welfare to help people maintain a lifestyle and I hope to god they never do.
This is off topic but I think we should remove all gov’t benefits and as a result the taxes as well. The only taxes we should have (no more fed income) are sales tax. 12 percent across the board. That pays for schools and roads, etc. things the gov’t should be taking care of.
As far as you as an individual, call me Marxist, but if you are a drain on the country and do not contribute in any capacity at all, then you don’t get the luxury of having your entire life paid for. That’s like rewarding someone for screwing up. They should attach contribution in some form to any hand-outs. I’ve never collected unemployment because I didn’t need it because I save money instead of being irresponsible. My reward is paying into it for other people that want to milk it. If you have a family to support and are out of work that is one thing, but that’s probably (well 15 years ago, today it’s many more) but back then it was 20 percent at the most who really should have been collecting. MAJORITY….The “minorities” are no longer that in social importance, but only in numbers and it’s about 40/60. At what point do we say, “okay the weekend is over, gravy train has come to a hault, time to be there for your country” I know this is a broad generalization and there are plenty of deserving people but anything that is “free” simply opens it for abuse, it’s just how we are as humans. I work for the gov’t and I see so much waste and things that they could sell that are surplus, etc. and they don’t because of potential abuse. (i.e. I order a bunch of extra tv sets to fill a budget deliberately so I can take home some of the surplus.) They just let it sit and rot because of that potential for abuse.. there is so much waste on many levels in this country. The fact that someone can clearly do things to allow child services to remove her custody, and have it TELEVISED and nothing happens? This country is down the drain already… it’s no longer circling it.

If you fell so bad for this girl getting all this bad attention then i would love you to start forking up the bill for all her kids. She has no job, no husband for support and is relying on her parents for financial support. With all the money from the settlement she spends on IVF and plastic surgery why doesn’t she spend and save the money helping raise her OWN kids. She says she loves and cares for her kids but it seems to me that she is more into her own looks then her kids. You know nothing, go help her with her bills because i sure don’t want taxpayer money going toward her selfishness and stupidity with the economy this bad.
These 8 babies should never leave the hospital with this woman – She has shown she is unable to support any of them. She can’t afford food, medical costs never mind diapers. She is robbing her other 6 kids of any kind of a healthy life and education. Does the USA not have a Social Worker system? Who is in charge of giving her the disability cheques? Does anybody investigate how these funds are used? You have to wonder if she is mentally cabable of making healthy decisions for any of her 6 kids her when she can not afford them proper care? Someone needs to step in and investigate why her student loans are not being used for education but for supporting these kids. Has anyone asked how is she planning on paying back this debt from the student loans and if she is planning more education where will this money come from when she lives off of the loans?

I was a child protection social worker for 20 years. If it was my decision I would apprehend the octuplets so that the isue of whether or not she is capable or fit to raise 14 children as a single parent would be heard in the courtroom, with the opportunity for “experts” to debate the issue. Also, this would put the onus on her to state exactly how she plans to care for and provide for 14 children under the age of 8. I don’t know of ANY single parent who is able to properly provide and care for 14 children, several of whom are developmentally delayed/disabled, particularly a parent with no means of finanacial support. She also seems to be mentally/emaotionally unstable and should have a thorough psychiatric assessment done ASAP!!!!!!!!

I wish Nadya’s plastic surgeon would come forward and tell us about her plastic surgery. She is a narcissist and we are all footing the bill through our Federal government’s programs and California’s lenient child welfare programs. Her nails and hair alone must cost a small fortune. She’s using our money to get her hair and nails done and I’ll bet there’s a tummy tuck coming up soon.
I know this woman never pays her hospital bills or any bills – grandma just files for bankruptcy to the tune of $1.5 million. She’s a superb player of our American Welfare system.
